“You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl”
I grew up in the country, Tasmania. I am a descendant of convicts, Irish, English and Scottish that were transported to Van Dieman’s Land a long time ago for which family history has been researched for both Chatwin and Purton. However, this is my story about my memories and events of my life growing up on the North West Coast of Tasmania. My contribution to our family tree. My memories and events will be mostly centred around my grandparents Amy Louisa EDGERTON, deceased, Roslyn Graham CHATWIN, deceased, Catherine (Kate) BUCKLEY, deceased, Ruby Alice PURTON, deceased and Eric Lindsay PURTON, deceased. As well as my parents, Mavis Rose CHATWIN and Bryon Robert PURTON. Together with my uncles, aunties, cousins and friends (all of which are mentioned further on my page), from birth to teenager.
Thank-you for dropping by my page and I hope you enjoy reading my life’s story about growing up in Tasmania, the “Apple Isle”, as it was known then. The precious times spent with my grandparents, playing with my cousins, going to school, the friendships, my childhood and teenage years, the country life. As well as my life in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, from a teenager until now. This entails family, working, my relationships, friendships as well as raising my five beautiful children.
As well as this, I will be including some memorabilia, history and facts, links, together with photos, newspaper clippings/articles that I have, or will be obtaining, was able to find or access to include in my page. Pretty much, whatever I can get my hands on to share here. I hope you too will find all of this information as interesting as me.
“100% Australian, Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie, oii. oii oii” .
Over time, within my pages will be included family tree information about my descendants, my ancestry. I have just started and have a long way to go.
